What Is Good Writing?

Good writing is a great number of things. Good writing has to have a good flow consistently throughout the whole piece. In other words, paragraph structure and word phrasing must be easily read and understood. A counter example might be "Today I went shopping. My mom drove she and myself to the grocery store. We bought many groceries for the Superbowl party tonight." Good writing must also be free of spelling and gramatical errors, should have as much clarity as possible and be to the point. Sometimes writers will have a range in auidiences and the piece as a whole must be understood by everyone. Likewise, good writing needs textual support and the authors commentary. This commentary builds personality and uniqueness in the paper. Most importantly, good writing must have a thesis statement. There are infinite possibilities for essay topics however, all writers should state a clear opinion in their essay. The thesis statement allows for authors to build up their case and prove why they are right. Afterall, there is nothing worse than reading an essay without a clear purpose.
